Contributions from parents towards the cost of transporting their child/children to school

Oral explanation by officers on parental contributions towards the cost of transporting their child/children to school.

Contributions from parents towards the cost of transporting their child/children to school.

 

Officers explained how the surplus seat scheme was administered and why it would not be possible to receive contributions from parents as statutorily eligible children should receive free transport.  It might also cause a 2 tier system for those who could not afford to make a contribution.

School Transport Appeals (Paragraphs 1 and 2)

To consider the school transport appeal referred to in the exempt report by the Corporate Director of Education and Learning.

The Committee considered an appeal against the Council’s refusal to provide a pupil with transport support.

 

Resolved

That the appeal on behalf of EK against the Council’s refusal to provide transport support between their home and Queen Elizabeth’s School, be allowed until the end of term July 2020.
