Cabinet Lead Member for Care and Health

Cabinet Lead Members are not members of the Cabinet but are appointed to work alongside Portfolio Holder(s). They provide additional leadership capacity and support to Cabinet. Lead Members may be members of an Overview Committee but they cannot sit on a Scrutiny Committee.

 

The Cabinet Lead for Care and Health supports the Portfolio Holder for People - Adult Social Care, Health and Public Health including:

·       Care markets - shaping and reporting

·       Commissioning

·       Dementia specific provision

·       A Better Life - care provision

·       Settled Adulthood (young adults transitioning from children’s services)

·       Building Better Lives - Health partners

·       Better Days- reshaping day opportunities

·       Home First

·       Community sector resilience

·       Primary Care Network

·       Scrutiny planning

Cabinet Lead Member for Education

Cabinet Lead Members are not members of the Cabinet but are appointed to work alongside Portfolio Holder(s). They provide additional leadership capacity and support to Cabinet. Lead Members may be members of an Overview Committee but they cannot sit on a Scrutiny Committee.

 

The Cabinet Lead for Education supports the Portfolio Holder for People - Children, Education, Skills and Early Help including:

·       Attendance at Schools Forum

·       School place sufficiency planning and high needs block

·       Locality model provision

·       Inclusion

·       School support and accountability

·       Early years

·       SEND (operational matters oversight)

·       Early years settings and schools, visits and communications

Cabinet Lead Member for Environment

Cabinet Lead Members are not members of the Cabinet but are appointed to work alongside Portfolio Holder(s). They provide additional leadership capacity and support to Cabinet. Lead Members may be members of an Overview Committee but they cannot sit on a Scrutiny Committee.

 

The Cabinet Lead for Environment supports the Portfolio Holder for Highways, Travel and Environment including:

·       Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)

·       Delivery and implementation of Climate and Ecological Change Strategy

·       Country parks

·       Hedge to Hedge (covers drainage and gulley clearance)

·       Car parking

·       Road safety

Cabinet Lead Member for Highways and Travel

Cabinet Lead Members are not members of the Cabinet but are appointed to work along side Portfolio Holder(s). They provide additional leadership capacity and support to Cabinet. Lead Members may be members of an Overview Committee but they cannot sit on a Scrutiny Committee.

 

The Cabinet Lead for Highways and Travel supports the Portfolio Holder for Highways, Travel and Environment including:

·       Public transport

·       Schools and adult services transport

·       Bus service improvement plan

·       Road safety

·       Transforming Cities Fund CF

·       Local Transport Plan (LTP)

Cabinet Lead Member for Housing and Homelessness

Cabinet Lead Members are not members of the Cabinet but are appointed to work alongside Portfolio Holder(s). They provide additional leadership capacity and support to Cabinet. Lead Members may be members of an Overview Committee but they cannot sit on a Scrutiny Committee.

 

The Cabinet Lead for Housing and Homelessness supports the Portfolio Holder for People - Adult Social Care, Health and Housing including:

·       Housing need

·       Housing options

·       Housing advice and homelessness

·       Building Better Lives

Cabinet Lead Member for Safeguarding

Cabinet Lead Members are not members of the Cabinet but are appointed to work alongside Portfolio Holder(s). They provide additional leadership capacity and support to Cabinet. Lead Members may be members of an Overview Committee but they cannot sit on a Scrutiny Committee.

 

The Cabinet Lead for Safeguarding supports the Portfolio Holder for People - Children, Education, Skills and Early Help including:

·       Link to Dorset Council provision - The Cherries, Dorchester Road etc.

·       Children’s Advice and Duty Service - ChAD

·       Care Leavers

·       Child in Need/ Child Protection

·       Fostering Champion

·       Whole life commissioning strategy

Chairman of Dorset Council

The Chairman of the Council is elected by the Council annually.  The Chairman’s responsibilities include to uphold and promote the purposes of the Constitution; preside over meetings of the Council so that its business can be carried out efficiently; to promote public involvement in the Council’s activities and the attend such civic and ceremonial functions as the Council determines appropriate.

Vice-Chairman of Dorset Council

The Vice-Chairman of the Council is elected by the Council annually.  The Vice-Chairman’s responsibilities include supporting the Chairman of the Council to uphold and promote the purposes of the Constitution; in the Chairman’s absence, preside over meetings of the Council, so that its business can be carried out efficiently; to promote public involvement in the Council’s activities and the attend such civic and ceremonial functions, on behalf of the Chairman, as the Council determines appropriate.
