The sub-committee reconvened
at 11.00am to consider an application for a Private Hire Drivers Licence from
Mr B.
The Chairman took this
opportunity to introduce all who were present and explained the procedure for the
meeting. She also reminded everyone at the meeting that the sub-committee was
still in exempt business.
The Acting Licensing Team
Leader advised that an initial application for a private hire driver’s licence
had been received by the Council. Following the result of the Disclosure
Barring Service check members were now being asked to consider the application.
The sub-committee was reminded that the test for a licensed driver was whether
an applicant is a “fit and proper” person to hold a licence.
The applicant was then given
the opportunity to address the sub-committee and members asked a number of
questions. Following a chance for all parties to sum up, the sub-committee
adjourned to consider the application.

Decision
After careful consideration
of all the evidence presented to them the sub-committee concluded the Mr B’s
application for a Private Hire Licence be refused.
That was the sub-committee’s decision and a decision letter
would be sent shortly after the meeting and any party who wishes to appeal the
decision has 21 days from the date of receipt of the letter to submit an appeal
to Weymouth magistrates Court, Westway Road,
Weymouth, DT4 8BS.
