Temporary Event Notice - Chic Bar & Club PDF 418 KB A Temporary Event Notice has been served on the Council to extend the hours of Chic Bar and Club in Weymouth. The Notice has been considered by the Police and Environmental Protection. Both the Police and Environmental Protection have served Objection Notices. A Licensing Sub-Committee must consider the Notice and the Objection Notices at a public hearing. Additional documents:
Minutes: The Licensing Team Leader presented the report for a Temporary Event Notice (TEN), which had been
served on the Council to extend the hours of Chic Bar and Club (formally known
as Actors) in Weymouth for the period from 21:00 on Saturday 29 October until
04:00 on Sunday morning. The Notice covered the sale of alcohol, regulated
entertainment and late-night refreshment, and was for 440 attendees. The Notice had been considered by the Police
and Environmental Protection. Both the Police and Environmental Protection had
served Objection Notices. The sub-committee was reminded of the options available to them. There were no questions for the Licensing Team Leader. The Applicant was invited to put forward their case. The Applicant highlighted the improvements that the venue had made since re-opening as Chic on 28 July 2022. They had worked hard with the Police and Environmental Protection to eradicate the previous issues associated with the former Actors Bar and had also instructed an independent review of the premises. Granting of the Temporary Event Notice would allow Chic to open an extra two hours on Halloween, the same times as their competitors. The sub-committee and the Licensing Team Leader were invited to ask questions of the Applicant. The Police representatives had no questions for the Applicant and were invited to put their case forward. They explained that they had applied for a Summary Review on the premises formally known as Actors in December 2021, the venue was subsequently closed and following appeal re-opened with a number of conditions in place. Since the new conditions had been imposed there had been no crime instances of note. Those present were invited to ask questions of the Police representatives. Following questions all parties were invited to sum up their case prior to the sub-committee retiring to make their decision.
