That the process
to remove the Harbour Authority’s Pilotage functions, as provided for under The
Marine Navigation Act 2013 be commenced.
There has been no requirement for pilotage services at Bridport
and Lyme Regis harbours for many years. The use of both harbours has changed
significantly to small commercial and leisure craft use. The review has
concluded that the harbours are low risk and there are adequate controls in
place to mitigate the safe arrival and departure of vessels, therefore the
requirement for ongoing pilotage is unnecessary.
