Decision Maker: Leader of the Council

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

The Cabinet will meet virtually until such time as a webcasting solution is installed and tested providing the option to non-cabinet members, officers and members of the public to engage in the democratic decision making processes remotely, in order to protect elected members, staff and the public,  with decisions to be made by the relevant portfolio holder in the light of views expressed by the wider Cabinet.

Reasons for the decision:

To ensure that democratic decision making is able to continue effectively and safely, and ensuring that decision making is transparent, that local residents are appropriately represented, and that all local authority decisions have appropriate scrutiny.

Alternative options considered:

To continue with in-person meetings, which might result in some members, officers or members of the public not feeling able to attend for personal health reasons.

Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:

No conflicts of interest declared.
