To consider a report of the Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Education and Skills.

That the Aspire Adoption annual report 2024/25 be received and noted.

Reason for the decision

Dorset Council had a duty under the Adoption and Children Act 2002 to establish and maintain an adoption service for its area. Dorset Council along with BCP Council discharges this duty through a delegation of functions to Aspire Adoption, a Regional Adoption Agency.

Cabinet received the annual report from Aspire Adoption, the Regional Adoption Agency for Dorset and BCP Councils. The report outlined key achievements including improved adoption timeliness, increased adoption orders and effective post-adoption support.

Cabinet members were asked to note the report as evidence of Aspire’s continued high-standard delivery of statutory adoption services.
