Joint Local Transport Plan

To consider a recommendation from Cabinet.

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member for Place Services presented a recommendation from Cabinet with regard to the adoption of the Local Transport Plan 2026 – 2041.

It was proposed by Councillor J Andrews seconded by Councillor S Clifford.

A number of comments were made emphasising the importance of the plan and the need to progress the areas that it covered, and assurances were sought that councillors would have input into the detail of the plan and the ability to advocate for their wards in terms of future plans. The value of taking the plan through the Place and Resources Overview Committee on a number of occasions was also recognised.

It was highlighted that the Local Transport Plan was a joint plan with BCP Council and also required their approval. Any issues with the approval would need to be discussed with the Department for Transport.

The Cabinet Member for Place Services thanked those officers at Dorset Council and BCP Council that had been involved in the development of the plan over the last 3 years.
