Langton Road, Blandford Forum - 8th October 2026 until 8th October 2026, between 08:00 and 18:00.
This Notice will enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement works in the highway.
Consultation period: 21/07/26 to 23/09/26.
Following consultation, comments from Cllr Steve Hitchings:
"I have a concern regarding the proposed road closure at Langton Road / Westbury Way on 8 October, as I have not seen any mention of alternative access arrangements.
My concern is how residents and visitors will be able to access Westbury Way during the closure. As you know, Westbury Way currently has only one vehicular access and exit point via Langton Road, so closing this section of road would effectively prevent normal vehicle access to and from the road.
During the recent flooding, the emergency access route onto the bypass was opened. Is this option being considered for this closure, or are there alternative arrangements being planned?
Could we please clarify what measures will be put in place to ensure that residents, emergency services, deliveries, and other essential traffic can continue to access Westbury Way safely while the works are taking place? If access is to be maintained through traffic management arrangements, I would be grateful if Dorset Council could provide further details."
Openreach have advised they will have traffic management operatives on site to escort through and maintain access to Westbury Way while their works are taking place.
