The minutes of the meeting held on 8 November 2019 were confirmed and signed.

To receive questions or statements on the business of the committee from town and parish councils and members of the public.

There were no public questions or statements received at the meeting.

22.

Urgent items

To consider any items of business which the Chairman has had prior notification and considers to be urgent pursuant to section 100B (4) b) of the Local Government Act 1972. The reason for the urgency shall be recorded in the minutes.

 

Minutes:

The Chairman raised the issue of future meeting arrangements as he considered it to be slightly overwhelming for members of the public to be faced with the full membership of the Committee, and suggested future meetings to hear transport appeals should be quorate with 5 members, the Chairman and Vice-Chairman plus 3 other members of the Committee subject to availability.

 

The Committee discussed the issue and all were in agreement with the suggestion.

 

Resolved

That the Constitution be amended to allow that all future meetings of the Appeals Committee to hear transport appeals be quorate with 5 members, the Chairman and Vice-Chairman plus 3 other members of the Committee subject to availability.

 

 

 

23.

Exempt Business

To move the exclusion of the press and the public for the following item in view of the likely disclosure of exempt information within the meaning of paragraph 3 of schedule 12 A to the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

The public and the press will be asked to leave the meeting whilst the item of business is considered.

24.

School Transport Appeals (Paragraphs 1 and 2)

To consider the school transport appeals referred to in the exempt report by the Corporate Director of Education and Learning.

The Committee considered a number of appeals against the Council’s refusal to provide pupils with transport support.

 

Resolved

That the appeal on behalf of MP and RP against the Council’s refusal to provide transport support between their home and Holy Trinity CE VC Primary School, be allowed until the end of term July 2020.
